Celtic endured another Champions League lesson as a 1-1 draw at home to Shakhtar Donetsk made it five matches without a win.

Ange Postecoglou doubled down on his vow to push for goals by starting with Giorgos Giakounakis and Kyogo Furuhashi but it was a tactic that never really paid off with little sign of link up play or an understanding between the two strikers.

Celtic took the lead in the 35th minute with a goal from Giakoumakis. A precise pass from Moritz Jens to Sead Haksabanovic stretched the Shakhtar defence, when the winger crossed into the bos Liel Abada’s shot deflected to the Greek striker who scored from 10 yards out.

The home side pushed for a second goal but just before the hour mark Shakhtar broke quickly, Mykhaylo Mudryk cut in from the left and fired a 20 yard shot past Joe Hart.

With 20 minutes left Danylo Sikan missed a chance that had to be seen to be believed, Celtic piled forward chasing a winner but despite lots of possession the Shakhtar goal was rarely threatened.

That’s OK: remember where we were just before Ange was appointed.
A total basket case of a club – thanks to our dim-witted Board.

Ange is on a steep learning curve – along with most of the squad.

The proof in the pudding will be in the transfer activity next summer.
We need to be buying more established/more expensive players to do better in the CL.
Like buying a Mudryk type player?

If our Board reverts to its penny-pinching, unambitious ways, then Ange will p!ss off.

    If the Board doesn’t step

Bang on Bob (original), pun intended.
    Work in progress.

Backing for one season or one window, or two, is not enough for a club of our size.
We must put down a real intention that the support can believe in, or they might find it dwindling.
The core will always be there, but there’s a worldwide support who thrive on our success and growth.
The board have a duty to all of us, old and new and the time, emotion, love and finance we contribute to this, not institution, but, family we’ve created across the globe for over a Century through thick and thin.
