A month after suffering a knee injury in the Glasgow derby Carl Starfelt has visited a London specialist to have the injury assessed.
The defender missed the start of the season after being injured playing for Sweden but managed to score twice in his three appearances during his brief return to action.
Early in the second half of the September 3 Glasgow derby Starfelt had to be replaced by Moritz Jenz with The Sun now reporting that the Swede visited a London specialist on Tuesday for an update.
Ange Postecoglou tends to be vague with his comments on injuries but on September 5 The Celtic Way reported the Celtic boss saying:
At the weekend, Carl Starfelt hurt his knee. We do not have a full diagnosis, but it is nothing too serious. However, it will only keep him out for a couple of weeks.
Going to see a London specialist a month later suggests that little progress has been made with the injury with the initial timeline unrealistic.
Celtic’s unforgiving fixture schedule continues with St Johnstone on Saturday followed three days later with the return clash against RB Leipzig with Starfelt clearly out of both of those matches.
Cameron Carter-Vickers seems to be close to a return to action after missing three matches but the run of fixtures hardly allows for anyone to be eased back in following injury.
