Ange Postecoglou isn’t going to lose sleep over Celtic’s growing injury list.

Callum McGregor’s situation is naturally a concern as the player and club await news on the extent of the injury that saw him in a knee brace yesterday as he visited a specialist.

Without McGregor there will need to be some adjustments to the way that the side plays with no obvious replacement despite having a full midfield of back up players such as Oliver Abildgaard, Yosuke Ideguchi and James McCarthy.

As well as McGregor missing today’s match at St Johnstone, Postecoglou will also be without Carl Starfelt and David Turnbull with a late decision to be made on whether Cameron Carter-Vickers is ready to return after three matches out injured.

With a schedule of a game every three days the injury toll is starting to impact on the team but with a first team squad stretching towards 25 players the Celtic boss is happy to go in with the players that he has available.

Looking at the injuries Postecoglou told the Daily Record:

It’s just the nature of football. Sometimes you go through these periods, we had it last year as well. It’s just unfortunate stuff. It’s not like it’s soft tissue injuries, it’s knocks, collisions or illnesses. This is stuff you can’t legislate for.

Three points at lunchtime today will go a long way to lifting the club after a sticky period of just one win in five matches since the Glasgow derby on September 3.
