Training at Murray Park has been put back two hours with the Daily Record convinced that the decision is related to the likely appointment of Michael Beale.

There have been claims that the QPR boss flew to Scotland last night but so far, at 12 noon, there have been no pictures of the next Ibrox boss.

A year ago Raman Bhardwaj of STV was peering through a fence at Glasgow Airport for the arrival of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Since drawing 1-1 away to St Mirren the Ibrox squad has been away on holiday but with Hibs visiting Ibrox in just over three weeks the serious business isn’t too far away.

The Record reports:

Record Sport understands the first team squad will be at the club’s training centre at noon rather than the regular start time of 10.00am as the players get back at Auchuenhowie after a break because of the World Cup. That opens a window for the Ibrox side to announce their incoming boss before he gets down to work. Record Sport revealed on Sunday night the 42-year-old is heading to Glasgow after QPR allowed their boss to speak to his former club about succeeding Gio Van Bronckhorst.

The Telegraph report Beale will pen a three-and-a-half year contract and Steven Gerrard ‘s former assistant will now get the chance to put his imprint on a side who return to competitive action against Hibs on Thursday, December 15. A friendly against Bayer Leverkusen on December 10 will allow Beale a chance to see his players in action as they aim to establish the building blocks ahead of their bid to claw back Celtic’s significant nine-point advantage atop the Scottish Premiership.

In a recent podcast Beale claimed that Celtic wouldn’t have won the SPFL title last season if Steven Gerrard had remained in charge.

With basically the same squad of players to pick from he should soon be able to put together a challenge for this season’s title, when Napoli won 3-0 at Ibrox in September James Sands was the only player in the starting XI that had been signed by van Bronckhorst.

Will Beale be more of a threat to Celtic than wee Gio?

The Record said Mick Beale will ‘land ‘ in Glasgow ,this Monday lunchtime ! Like visiting Royalty ,or the President of the United States visiting our shores ‘land’ I suppose ….. Do you not remember a few years ago when the Rangers signed Jamie Murphy on 6 months loan ,the Record had the roving the Rangers reporter fan boy Gavin Berry ,at Glasgow Airport with a photographer, early in the morning to welcome the player hoping for an ‘exclusive’ on what it meant to sign for his boyhood clumpany ! As the old saying went ‘lovely biscuits.’
