Managerial issues at QPR rarely attract the attention of the big hitters in the English media.

Whether it is Mark Warburton, Steve McLaren or Neil Warnock the west London side are rarely newsworthy but that changed slightly last month.

After departing Aston Villa in the summer Mick Beale quickly attracted the attention of Wolves but the new man at QPR declined to discuss a move, citing loyalty and the need to learn his trade at Loftus Road.

Those comments made people sit up and take notice, perhaps there is a young-ish English manager moving in the right direction, grounded with his head screwed on to make the right career decisions.

That romantic notion has been kicked into touch over the last week.

Beale better hope that he makes a success of his fourth job in 13 months, not many doors will be open to him if he finds himself trailing Celtic by nine points next November.
