Giovanni van Bronckhorst flew to Holland at the weekend to avoid boardroom talks about his future.

A grim run of results has allowed Celtic to build up a nine point lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership table with Aberdeen seven points adrift in third place.

Having survived taking the club into the record books as the worst ever in the history of the Champions League the Ibrox side are now falling by the wayside in the SPFL.

After drawing with St Mirren van Bronckhorst mentioned holding talks with the board but it seems that the whole club is off on holiday as loyal bears hammer at their keyboards and phones demanding change or at least that ‘sumbdy dae somethin’.

Writing in the Record, Andy Newport reveals:

Now nine points adrift, the clamour for his head continues to grow. Van Bronckhorst admitted in Paisley he expected talks when he said: “We are going to sit down (with the board) and speak about the last couple of months and which way to go forward. I have no fear, I never have fear.”

But Record Sport understands his camp have yet to be contacted by chairman Douglas Park or managing director Stewart Robertson, with talks on his future still to be scheduled.

The fans’ clamour for the manager to be sacked comes amid more pressure on the club as Dave King prepares to fly back to Glasgow. He is determined to heap fresh pressure on the under-fire Ibrox board ahead of next month’s powderkeg AGM.

If Gers decide to pull the trigger on van Bronckhorst, it’s rumoured the cost of compensation required to remove the former Feyenoord coach and his backroom team could run to more than £3.5million.

Having lost £900,000 last year with just £4.9m of profit from the summer transfer window it seems unlikely that the club can afford to pay off van Bronckhorst then pay out compensation to bring in a true bear like Davie Martindale or Robbie Neilson to try and stop Angeball winning a second successive SPFL title.
