Straight after leading his side into the Champions League record books James Tavernier delivered a complete car crash interview to BT Sport.

The Ibrox skipper can usually be relied on to string together a series of cliches with y’know after every couple of words to cover his hurt.

Ibrox fans have long had reservations about the qualities of the former Wigan man but when he said that the team lacked fight and hunger it was a red flag to those watching at home on television.

We’ve not given the fans the minimum that they wanted.

We can only apologise but it’s a learning curve

I believe in the first half that we could have fought a bit more, y’know, more hunger in the first half. We just lacked a bit, better in second half but in these games you can’t wait for 45 minutes.

We never want to get beat, we are a club known for winning trophies and games.

It is little over a year ago that the BBC Scotland’s Chief Sports Writer, Tom English, was telling us that The Raingurrz should be sweeping up on all the domestic trophies and going for a good run in the Champions League. Maybe this is what “A Good run” looks like in the Alice In Wonderland world of BBC Sports Scotland!?

And why would a professional footballer “Apologise” for his own performance, or that of his team? They’re paid to deliver their best performance on the field and if they do that, then the’ve done their job(s). Only a fockin arse-licker would grovel that low!
