Ferencvaros are reported to be open to selling Aissa Laidouni during the January transfer window.

The midfielder was linked with a move to Celtic following three impressive displays for Tunisia at the World Cup Finals in Qatar.

Laidouni is under contract with Ferencvaros until May 2023 and although they have a 12 month option on that deal it would make more sense to sell in January following the World Cup that enforce the option on his contract.

The Sun reports:

Ferencvaros supremo Gabor Kubatov has admitted that he is ‘open to negotiations’ regarding the Celtic-linked star. This could open the door for the Hoops to swoop in for the World Cup talent.

Speaking to Nemzeti Sport, he said: “Many people are interested. We haven’t received a specific offer yet but I’m sure it will come.

“He played at a very high level at the World Cup. And, if we receive an offer that is worth considering, we are open to negotiations.

“We have to find the right balance too. If we can sell someone for good money, we can get more benefits from that. On the one hand, we can use the income to bring in new football players.”

Aaron Mooy’s World Cup was as impressive as Laidouni but Ange Postecoglou has demonstrated that his transfer planning goes beyond the here and now.

In the summer there could well be bids coming in for Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley, bringing in players in January takes some pressure away from finding replacements.

With the transfer window officially opening in less than a fortnight speculation will step up with the World Cup completed with the focus firmly back on clubs.
