The top men at the Daily Record are split over the likely outcome of tomorrow’s match at Pittodrie.

Jim Goodwin has attracted a storm of criticism for the way that his side approached Saturday’s match against Celtic, there seems little sympathy around for a team that set out for a 0-0 draw only to lose to an 87th minute goal.

Despite the media’s fondness to bundle the two Glasgow Premiership clubs together both clubs play in very different ways with Goodwin knowing that he has an ideal opportunity to restore faith tomorrow night.

After weeks of gushing coverage about the wonders of Micky Beale taking a point or two tomorrow night will redeem the Dons boss in the eyes of most supporters but another feeble display will send Goodwin into the new year under a cloud with fans questioning whether real progress has been made since Stephen Glass was sacked.

The Record asked their Monday Morning Jury:

Rangers go to Pittodrie on Tuesday. Will they get the result they need to keep their flickering title hopes alive?

KEITH: It could depend on what tactical approach Goodwin takes into this one. If Aberdeen have a go against a vulnerable looking Rangers defence then they might get some festive joy. But Michael Beale will be pinning his hopes on his own attacking threats. It could be a fascinating, high scoring affair.

DAVID: It’s really hard to call. Dons adopted a positive attitude at Ibrox and got smashed 4-1, so will Goodwin adopt Saturday’s tactics again and sit in? The most likely result is a draw and that will do Rangers no good whatsoever.

SCOTT: If Aberdeen approach the game like they did against Celtic then there will only be one winner. Jim Goodwin has to come up with a game plan to try and take something, which is something he has struggled to do against Glasgow’s Big Two in his current job.

CRAIG: Rangers showed good mentality against Hibs on Thursday and took the Dons to the cleaners at Ibrox. So yes.

Celtic are back in action on Wednesday, at home to Livingston.
