Every week Chris Sutton puts himself up for attack on 606, broadcast live by the BBC.

Anyone can call in, there will be some sort of screening process but it does allow Ibrox fanatics access to someone who is one of their chief hate figures.

On BT Sport, BBC Five Live or in the Daily Record Sutton calls out some uncomfortable truths while the Scottish media largely swims with the tide whether they are cheering for a city trader, a Liverpool legend, a Dutch genius or the best man in the world when it comes to laying down bibs and cones.

Sutton can see through it, call it for what it is. He didn’t shy away from criticising Ronny Deila or Neil Lennon when they were failing at Celtic.

Yesterday’s 606 show was dominated by the World Cup Final and debate about Gareth Southgate and England, there was however one significant exception.

54 minutes a ‘West Brom’ fan with a dubious Scottish accent discusses in details QPR and Michael Beale.

CALLER: You don’t think he (Beale) should be applauded (for taking a massive professional gamble. So when you were Lincoln City manager and Glasgow Rangers came in for you would you have turned that job down? Would you turn Glasgow Rangers down when you were Lincoln City manager?

SUTTON: Would I turn Glasgow Rangers down? Er yes, yes I would.

CALLER: So you would stay with Lincoln City as opposed to moving to Glasgow Rangers with a 10 million worldwide fanbase, one of the most successful football clubs in the world- you would stay at Lincoln City? And not professionally move on with your career and go to Glasgow Rangers

SUTTON: I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than manage Glasgow Rangers in truth, I mean that is the long and the short of it.
