Celtic are reported to have joined the race for Cho Gue-sung.

The South Korean striker put himself in the transfer shop window with two goals against Ghana with the January window now just a month away.

Celtic are well served by Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis but with just four goals scored in the Champions League it is an area of the side that Ange Postecoglou will be looking to improve on.

The Celtic link was reported by David Friel last night, he does have a sound record of breaking Celtic stories such as Neil Lennon’s departure 10 hours before the Stock Exchange was informed.

The Sun reports:

CELTIC have joined the race to land South Korea World Cup sensation Cho Gue-sung.

The Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker grabbed a stunning headed double against Ghana on Monday.

SunSport understands Celtic are one of several European clubs keen to land the 24-year-old in January.

Cho is well known to Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou, having scored against his Yokohama F Marinos team in the Asian Champions League in February 2020.

The 6ft 2in striker went into the Qatar World Cup off the back of an impressive season in Korea.

He scored 21 goals in 35 games in all competitions for Jeonbuk and army team Gimcheon Sangmu.

Postecoglou has his transfer plans in place on a long term basis, on the back of his clients World Cup double Gue-sung’s agent is likely to be very busy drumming up interest in the striker.

Over the last two transfer windows Postecoglou has concentrated his efforts elsewhere in the Celtic side with Daizen Maeda and Sead Haksabanovic signed with those two primarily viewed as wide players.
