Southampton are the first entrants in Ryan Kent Transfer Bingo.
Every window since the ‘former Liverpool star’ moved to Ibrox there have been far fetched tales of clubs poised to put in offers without quite putting a bid in.
Twice a year Leeds United are usually quoted with keeping tabs on Kent but a week before the window opens Southampton are posed to make an offer for the step-over ace.
The Sun reports:
Beale’s hopes of retaining Kent could have taken a further blow today after another Premier League side, Southampton, emerged as the latest side to enter the race for his prized asset.
Saints boss Nathan Jones is said to be ‘targeting’ a move worth £5million for the Rangers winger, according to the Daily Mirror
The St Mary’s side currently sit second bottom and are eyeing some more experienced players to help their young squad survive the battle for the drop and it has been suggested that Kent could help give them that balance.
After getting Joe Aribo for £6m last summer Southampton will find plenty of change out of £5m if they put in an offer for Kent.
With his contract expiring in May the player will decide whether he moves in January or hangs around to run down his contract.
