David Martindale has name checked Celtic while touting Jon Nouble for a big money transfer.

The 26-year-old forward has scored three goals this season but like most Livingston players he is described as a handful with two of his goals coming during Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s 15 match spell in the SPFL Premiership.

Nouble has Journeyman stamped on his passport after spells at Welling, Haringay Borough, Concord and Aldershot before arriving at Livingston and bagging four goals on loan at Arbroath last season.

Martindale is at his happiest showing off his man-of-the-people credentials to the media, discussing Nouble the Express reports the Livingston boss saying:

I’d be surprised if we don’t see some interest in him in the summer because he can play as a 7, a 9 or an 11. His numbers are getting better, definitely in terms of the wide areas.

I’d say that outside of Celtic he is one of the best wingers in the Scottish Premiership. He’s been fantastic for us. He’ll be staying here in January unless something outrageous comes in, but hopefully he can leave the club in a very good place in the summer.

I think there’s a lot more to come from Joel. I’m looking forward to the next step in the evolution of his career. I’d love to see him down in the Championship and I’d love to see him maybe at one of the top two in Scotland as well.

After ruling out Celtic the Livingston boss subtly mentions Scotland’s top two, on Wednesday Celtic host Martindale’s side in a rearranged SPFL match.

Apparently it will take an outrageous bid in January for Livingston to sell their star asset.

So far Ange Postecoglou has signed Yuki Kobatashi and Alistair Johnston both of whom play in defence.

The Celtic boss seems to be well off in terms of midfielders and wingers but only has two genuine strikers in Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis with Daizen Maeda the back up option.
