Anthony Joseph has confirmed a report from Greece that Atlanta United have agreed terms with Celtic for the transfer of Giorgos Giakoumakis.
Urawa Red Diamonds were first to strike a deal for the hoops striker but a move to the MLS always seemed more likely than going to the J-League.
Over the course of January it has become obvious that Giakoumakis would be on the move with the signing and debut of Oh Hyeon-gyu confirming Ange Postecoglou’s forward planning.
UPDATE: Atlanta United and Celtic have agreed a deal worth £4.3m for striker Giorgos Giakoumakis.
It’s understood the initial fee is £3.5m, with £800,000 in add-ons.

Giakoumakis flew to Holland on Friday to undergo a medical for Urawa but it seems that development forced Atlanta to up their bid which was initially for a loan.
With £3.5m up front Celtic are making a £1m profit on the former VVV Venlo striker with the prospect of other payments further down the line.
