Back at the start of September QPR had a Championship match away to Swansea, it kicked off at 3pm.

On the same day in Glasgow the cities two Premiership clubs met for the first time of the season, a 12.30pm kick-off slot was used to allow the match to be shown live on Sky Sports.

With his side playing Swanse, Beale decided to watch the match from Glasgow which finished at around 2.20pm, just 40 minutes before QPR lost 1-0 in Wales.

All the hard work of the week on the training ground has to be brought into focus before the match, all of the training drills, the tactics, reminders about set-pieces, for and against.

Tomorrow Beale will be in charge from the home dressing room and dug-out at Ibrox, giving the match his 100% focus and attention.

Back in September he had split loyalties as he explained to the Daily Record when he was asked about the early season Glasgow derby:

I watched it (the 4-0 game) live. We had a game later that afternoon, so I watched it, kicking every ball. Obviously very frustrated that day with the outcome.

The key moments went against Rangers. I remember late last season Fashion Sakala going through one-on-one in the 85th minute and if that had gone in, history could have been slightly different. It didn’t, and obviously since then Celtic have had the upper hand.

That came after Rangers winning a Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic so it isn’t too long ago these two squads played and Rangers got the upper hand. I do think, at the moment – and you know what I’m going to say – they are the favourites, they are the team with the rhythm, they are the team with no injuries, they are the team in best form. OK then, it’s an opportunity.

QPR fans aren’t likely to be impressed to find out that their manager was watching a match from a different league during the build up to their defeat away to Swansea.

It seems that tomorrow Ange Postecoglou will face an opponent who has been watching his side for much longer than many had thought.
