In the course of a week Moritz Jenz has swapped a title race for a relegation battle.

At the start of the week it seems that his loan deal with Celtic was cut short, this afternoon he was popping up in Germany as a Schalke 04 player. There has still been no comment from Celtic on the move.

The signing of Yuki Kobayashi and his inclusion in the Starting XI against St Mirren and Morton has relegated Jenz down to fourth choice central defender which is no use to the player.

With Carl Starfelt restored to fitness following the World Cup break Jenz hasn’t had any playing time despite making 19 appearances in the first part of the season.

Those appearances included six Champions League matches but it seems clear that Ange Postecoglou didn’t view the Berlin born defender as essential to his plans going forward.

Schalke are in bottom place in the Bundesliga, losing 6-1 at home to RB Leipzig on Tuesday night.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

I wish the guy all the best. He never let us down.
    A good person.

He was a far better defender than that bomb scare Starfelt and a far superior passer of the ball. Can’t believe Ange has let him leave.

Wishing Mercedes the very best. Never a single mistake in the hoops. Should still be a Bhoy!
