Celtic are reported to be looking at loan options for Yosuke Ideguchi.

The midfielder was one of three signings from the J-League announced on December 31 but while Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda have gone from strength Ideguchi’s Celtic career hasn’t got off the ground.

A bad injury at Alloa last January in the Scottish Cup put him out of action with that match at the Indodrill the only time that he made Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI.

Going out on loan won’t be a straightforward task due to work permit issues.

The obvious option is to return back to Japan where the registration window is open until April, if he returns to Japan now it is unlikely that the 26-year-old would return again to Europe.

Since Ideguchi signed Postecoglou has added Aaron Mooy and Tomoki Iwata to his squad although Oliver Abildgaard’s loan from Rubin Kazan could be cut short.

My heart goes out to young Ideguchi ! The horrendous tackle he sustained at Alloa was an intentional ,snide one in which Sunday league sides would have been embarrassed about . The tackle from his Alloa opponent was as nasty as it gets and the poor guy has never been able to establish himself in the first team because of it … The damage was done early on in his short Celtic career ! He should leave with our thanks and apologies .
