EBT McLeish taunts Martin O’Neill over conspiracies

Alex McLeish has accused Martin O’Neill of going down a conspiracy rabbit hole.

It seems that some vague references to dubious refereeing decisions has spooked the former Scotland boss who raked in £1.7m in disguised remuneration during his time at Ibrox.

To take home £1.7m Celtic would need to have paid O’Neill over £3m with the Irishman getting his share once Income Tax and National Insurance was deduced.

Similarly for the money that Celtic were laying out on Chris Sutton McLeish had Tore Andre Flo and Ronald de Boer available for selection.

Speaking to The Sun, McLeish said:

Martin’s foray into an alleged carve-up by Scottish refs and VAR to deny his old club a penalty in the last Old Firm match was bizarre.

When we managed the Old Firm, I also thought Rangers were denied decisions by referees. So if Rangers and Celtic weren’t getting decisions, who was?

Games often ended with us feeling aggrieved. But we’d never head down the conspiracy rabbit hole, never.

When Martin brought up a disallowed goal in the League Cup final he forgot to mention Hartson missed a last-minute penalty. Was that the referee’s fault too?

No one mentioned a conspiracy other than McLeish.

After being taunted by his old adversary will O’Neill come back to discuss playing against teams rammed with ineligible players or will be stick with O** F*** knockabout banter rather than hit on the real issues that denied him two titles and a five-in-a-row legacy.

Are you satisfied with way Celtic have dealt with the VAR issues highlighted by Ange?

Yes, working quietly in the background is the way to go

He bought into the Hun way thing, full hog. I wonder if in the back of his mind he regrets it? He made a nice living out of it, tax retained notwithstanding, a season ticket for life at the Ipox and as many tickets as he likes from the SFA and no need to work again for the rest of his life. But alas, no honesty, just dirty fingers and he must know it. Integrity? What? I’ll take the money, thanks!
