In an act of utter desperation Glasgow Live has signed Todd Cantwell for the Ibrox Tribute Act and simulated the remaining matches of the season.
Like Football Scotland, Glasgow Live is part of the Daily Record/Reach Group with a predictable slant on all matters relating to Scottish football.
Cantwell has spent the season watching Kenny McLean playing in a struggling Championship side but in typical fashion the 24-year-old is about to make his mark on Scottish football.
Much like Amad Diallo and Aaron Ramsey last year although there is no sign yet of Kris Boyd high-fiving through the studio at Sky Sports News.
Beale looked into the eyes of three prospective signings last week, Ross Wilson has still to delivered but regardless of reality Glasgow Live reports:
Rangers’ results with Cantwell
After Cantwell’s arrival, the Gers went on a good run of form, closing the gap between themselves and Celtic to just four points with momentum on their side. But, a sudden run of bad results towards the end of the season opened up the gap even more than before, and Rangers ended the season in second place.
The poor run at the end of the season along with Celtic rediscovering their best form meant the gap opened up to 15 points, with the Hoops ending the season on 90 and Rangers on 75 (THE GRAPHIC USED SHOWS CELTIC ON 80 POINTS WITH 13 DRAWS). One win in their last seven saw the Hoops pull away to claim the league title.
The two meetings between Rangers and Celtic after Cantwell’s arrival ended 3-0 to Celtic and 2-2 in the clash at the Ibrox, with the Hoops losing just once all season. The two sides also met in both cup finals, with Beale’s side winning one.
In the Record’s simulation game Celtic finished with 80 points, five ahead of their city rivals.
Ange Postecoglou’s side never lost another match but incredibly drew 12 of their remaining 17 matches!
