Alasdair Morrison is the new Ibrox Media manager, being a former Labour MSP he will be very familiar with lost causes wrapped in a Union flag.

From 1999 to 2007 he represented the Western Isles in Holyrood until his constituents decided to ditch him.

At the 2015 Westminster election he opted to stand in the Na h-Eileanan an Iar constituency where he polled just 4,560, Angus MacNeill (a known Celtic fan) trashed him with 8,662 votes on a 73.2% turnout from 21,769 voters.

Those votes seemed to have ended his political ambitions, now he will be spinning for the Ibrox Tribute Act, taking on the task from former DUP councillor David Graham.

With Labour the third party at Holyrood and in power with Tory coalitions in local government Morrison’s contact book is likely to be on the thin side.

Morrison’s brother, John, runs the Morrison’s Media agency in Glasgow.
