The SFA has confirmed that there was a ‘technical issue’ with VAR during today’s Viaplay Cup semi-final at Hampden.

Apparently the system was down for an unspecified five minute period with both managers aware of the issue.

STV reported an SPFL spokesperson saying:

The Scottish FA have confirmed to us that a technical issue with the VAR station at Clydesdale House resulted in a five-minute period where VAR was not in operation at Hampden Park.

The issue was resolved by moving to the back-up station and VAR was operational immediately thereafter.

With the match live on television it is difficult to understand what the problem was at Clydesdale House where Alan Muir was monitoring the action.

A back up communication system must surely be in place to relay information to the fourth official if any incident needs corrected or reviewed.

During stoppage time at the end of the regular 90 minutes Ryan Kent escaped punishment for throwing a punch at Aberdeen defender Liam Scales.

These technicalities tend to happen in Scottish football when we have the 50bob version of VAR ! You know the ones those other FA’s cast offs with cheap cameras and filters unable to provide us with the complete viewing angles …Then again ,who needs VAR when we have such a high , sophisticated standard of referee doing their thing in Scotland !

That’s a new one for them, they must have come up with that one at a recent lodge meeting ( for any issues they did not want to take action on ).

Lol the nickel&dime version of VAR only available in Scotland.
Lol at you mug punters that will be screaming out for ticket for the final.
Imagine wanting tickets for football match that’s more CORRUPT and FALSE than any wrestling match that has ever taken place.

Interesting to find out when it happened?
