Were Celtic denied a first half penalty for a pull on Kyogo?

Don Robertson had a heavy reliance on VAR technology at Tannadice yesterday.

Late in the first half he awarded Celtic a penalty as Kyogo Furuhashi was sandwiched, after taking another look on the monitor Robertson decided that he had got it wrong with play restarting.

Ten minutes into the second half it was the other way around, after missing a handball from Kieran Freeman a penalty was awarded with Aaron Mooy effectively seeling the points by netting from the spot.

The closest that Celtic came to scoring in the first half was a cross from the left by Reo Hatate that struck the far post.

As the ball bounced back into the six yard box Scott McMann was taking no chances, grabbing Kyogo’s shirt and wrestling him to the ground.

The rebound broke to Aaron Mooy whose shot was blocked but the evidence seemed clear that Kyogo was fouled in front of goal but the incident escaped the attention of Euan Anderson on VAR duty.

Lol could you imagine where sevco would be in the league without Tavpens and opposition players being sent off in ganes.
        I reckon 3rd or 4th bottom.

  • Dando says:

Players don’t make these blatant fouls now because VAR will catch them out…. well, except when they are playing Celtic, that is (;-0)

The official responsible for ref & VAR appointments should be sacked.

the only reason we got the hand ball one was because it was blatant with freemans arm so far from his body in using his arm it was a deliberate hand ball it should have also been a second booking as he was booked minutes before deliberate hand ball is a booking we did not get mcmans pull because no one bar kyogo was only one to claim ref seen it but let it go

If we’ve learned anything since the introduction of V(video)A(assisting)R(rangers) in Scotland, it’s that in regards to Celtic these incidents aren’t missed as much as ignored by design.
No club has been penalized more than Celtic and no club has benefitted more than sevco.
