Gary Keown has provided a brilliant summary of Alfredo Morelos as the chunky Colombian runs down the final months of his contract.

After 11 failed transfer windows trying to raise Dembele Dollars time is about to run out although Komyaspor of Turkey made a 48 hour appearance with another disappearing offer of mega-bucks for the Ibrox ace.

While most in the Scottish media apply constant spin to matters at Ibrox Keown is largely out of the news loop, keeping his views and opinions for his Sunday column where he can say what he thinks.

Beale has been showering Morelos with compliments over the last two months but so far has been unable to sweet talk him into signing a new contract.

Since joining from HJK Helsinki in the summer of 2017 the Colombian has signed two subsequent deals but at the 2022 AGM Douglas Park warned shareholders that new contracts for Morelos and Ryan Kent were unobtainable.

With John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe both taking more than £2m a year out of the club it seems that Morelos and Kent will have to look elsewhere for those sort of deals.

After a scathing criticism of Morelos in the Daily Mail Keown concluded with:

Morelos has been a disgrace this term. He has been indulged and richened by lucrative new contracts during his time at Ibrox.

That he can’t keep himself fit — the absolute minimum requirement for a  professional athlete — alone makes a mockery of the fact that we are somehow back having this  conversation over whether he should stay or not.

That punishment over his shape and attitude didn’t last long, though. As usual. He was back in the fold before you knew it, everything forgiven and forgotten.

In every regard, Rangers have made an unholy mess of managing Morelos. They really ought to learn to accept that, put it down to experience and move on.

Those Celtic financials show that everyone at Ibrox really needs to be on-point all the time from now on. Not just when they feel like it.

After the freaky Lockdown Season it seems that Ibrox investors have had their loans repaid with the club left to live within their means- lumbered with a number of hereditary contracts.
