Micky Beale has a shock in store for John Lundstram with no place for the midfield general in his team for the next four or five years.

The battling Scouser became a pin up for the Ibrox support a year ago after a very slow start under Steven Gerrard and Micky Beale.

Last January Lundstram was being tipped for a loan move to Middlesbrough and a reunion with Chris Wilder but Giovanni van Bronckhorst overlooked Aaron Ramsey to put his trust in the former Sheffield United jobsworth.

Beale made just two January signings, tellingly they were both midfielders with the new Ibrox boss looking to the future with Lundstram cast aside.

Covering a feature soon to appear on the in-house Ibrox TV channel, The Sun reports Beale saying:

If there was a big billboard outside of Ibrox and you saying what does this current squad look like? Who’s on our billboard? Who is this Rangers team?

You can only play the way those players allow you to play. Our team has got to have a lot of relationships and have a lot of combination play. You have got to give them some freedom.

I think of this team now you have Ryan Kent, Nicolas Raskin, Tom Lawrence and Todd Cantwell – whoever is on this billboard, that’s the Rangers of the next four or five years.

With Kent set to walk away in the summer and Lawrence in the treatment room it looks ominous for Lundstram if the new Ibrox boss has four midfielders ahead of him for star billing in next season’s side.

Lundstram is under contract until May 2024.

Strange for a manager to publicly talk about a player being in ‘the future’ of his team,

yet his club has allowed that player to run down his contract?

Is Beale trying to pressure the Blue Room to pay Kent what he wants, in order to stay on?

    NO DOSH.
