Kris Commons no longer shares a platform with Kris Boyd on Sky Sports but he still follows the Scottish game closely.

Much of his comments since leaving Celtic have turned supporters against him but as he looks towards Sunday’s Viaplay Cup Final at Hampden he seems more attuned with the views of most Celtic supporters.

All season Celtic have been more than a few steps ahead of their domestic opponents, since the World Cup break the quality of team and individual performances has got up a level or two.

Without six midweek Champions League matches inside a two month stretch the players have had extra time on the training ground with the benefits of that evident every matchday.

In the Daily Mail, Commons writes:

Because, whilst Rangers are in good form themselves with 12 wins in 14 games under their new manager, Celtic are on a different level altogether.

They are flying at the moment. Postecoglou’s side have notched 16 wins and one draw from their last 17 games in all competitions — and are scoring goals for fun.

Since drawing 2-2 at Ibrox at the start of January, both teams have reeled off nine straight wins and are playing with confidence.

But Celtic’s relentless run of form extends way beyond that. With the exception of the draw at Ibrox, they’ve won every single domestic fixture they’ve played since mid-September.

It’s an absolutely phenomenal run of form — and that’s why I make them firm favourites heading into the cup final next Sunday afternoon.

A nine point lead built up from 24 wins and one draw from 26 matches is impressive but a goal difference advantage of 26 is very telling.

With 82 goals scored, split evenly between home and away matches it looks like the hoops will hit the 100 goals mark around the time of the SPFL split.
