Ewan Otoo has joined Dunfermline on loan until the end of the season, switching the Lowland League for the League One promotion trail.

The 20-year-old has turned out in central defence or at left-back and has been a regular in the Celtic B side this season.

Two years ago he went out on loan to Clyde in League One, playing in 15 matches between March 23 and May 6 as the fixtures were crammed in behind closed doors.

The Courier reports:

Dunfermline have signed 20-year-old Celtic Ewan Otoo on loan until the end of the season, Courier Sport understands.

Pars boss James McPake has been looking to strengthen his defence after Sam Fisher was last month recalled by Dundee.

McPake tried to sign former Dunfermline defender Euan Murray ahead of the recent transfer deadline day but no deal was finalised.

Now Otoo, who can play central defence or at left-back, has joined the Pars as they continue their push for the League One title.

McPake seemed highly impressed by the Celtic side that lost to Dunfermline earlier in the season in the Challenge Cup.

League One is highly impressive this season with Falkirk and Airdrie chasing the Pars for the one automatic promotion place.

Dunferline are away to Airdrie tomorrow, hoping to retain their four point lead over Falkirk at the top of the table with a game less played.
