Alan Brazil has claimed live on air that Ange Postecoglou is about to sign a new contract at Celtic.

With no midweek matches and the transfer window closed the managerial vacancy at Leeds United has filled up plenty of media time with many pundits explaining why the Celtic boss would be the perfect appointment.

No names have leaked out of Elland Road since Jesse Marsch was sacked on Monday with no hints of unhappiness from ‘friends or sources’ close to Postecoglou.

Listening in to TalkSPORT this morning the Daily Record reports Brazil saying:

I’ve just had a text and I’ll not say who from but Ange Postecoglou is going to sign a new contract at Celtic, he’s going nowhere.

Postecoglou signed the standard 12 month rolling contract when he joined Celtic in June 2021 and has already seen off Giovanni van Bronckhorst who arrived- and was sacked- from Ibrox after the Australian took charge of Celtic despite the comfort of a three and a half year contract.

Postecoglou is scheduled to meet the media this afternoon with someone likely to ask him the Leeds United question.

The best thing for any manager is to be on a fake wanted list!
The next thing you know his club is offering more money and a longer contract.
    Good luck to him!

Editor: Very cynical, very true. Applies to players as well as one chunky Colombian can confirm.

I just hope we get ange on new contract soon to end all this nonsense about Leeds hope it’s today that gets announced

  • Paul Mac says:

After Brazil´s completely out of order initial response to Ange´s signing , I would take anything that he says about Celtic with more than a huge spoon of salt – Not saying I wouldn’t be ecstatic if they did tie him down for another 2-3 years !

How would that fat lump know anything about anybody, if you wanted too know the price of a steak bake, sure but go take a hike with your fuckin hun pal sally. HH

Alan Brazil? The mouth where credibility goes to die?

  • Bob (original) says:

Ange should have been offered a longer, better contract the day after we won the title last year.

It should now remove any future bollox stories from the SMSM – ‘linking’ Ange to every vacancy available in England.

  • the real Anton Rogan says:

    Contracts mean nothing in football.
We all know that. However, Ange should be rewared with a hefty pay rise given the way he has turned us around and the extra revenue he has generated for the club

  • John A says:

God bless Ange, 4 more years please

  • BriBhoy says:

Let’s not forget, Rodgers signed a long term contract too. I think we all know how that ended. That said, the big fella seems to have more integrity about him and a young family that has just settled in Glasgow.

He’s taken us from a decade low back to the Champions’ League and being top dogs domestically again – and playing attractive football into the bargain. He’s had the freedom to build his own squad and be his own man. Probably take a lot more than Leeds to entice him away from all of that.

In contrast, based on his QPR departure, the cockney gobsh1te on the other side of the city would drop his drawers and bend over faster than a two bit hooker if even Bournemouth came calling.
