Alistair Johnston has still to score his first Celtic goal but he is usually one of the first to celebrate when one of his team-mates find the net.

Seven weeks on from his debut at Ibrox and the young Canadian looks perfectly at home in Ange Postecoglou’s side, switching from the MLS to the SPFL via three matches at the World Cup Finals in Qatar.

Rather than waiting until the transfer window is open then seeing who is available in the last few days Postecoglou takes a very proactive approach to the January window.

Johnston was identified well ahead of the World Cup, negotiations at an advanced stage with a deal announced while Josip Juranovic went deep into the finals.

Stints at Lennoxtown and on the Algarve provided all of the preparation required, next Sunday Johnston could have his first winners medal, with or without a goal at Hampden.
