Despite watching the team that pays his wages losing out to a penalty and red card Davie Martindale seemed upbeat as he discussed Saturday’s 3-0 defeat.

The Livi boss has developed cult status among many in the media, especially BBC Scotland and is never shy about praising opponents from Ibrox.

After losing 2-1 to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side on the first day of the season Martindale was high-fiving with James Tavernier and Scott Arfield on the pitch after the match.

During his media conference the Livi boss referred to ‘Tav doing what Tav does’ followed by a reference to his pal wee Scotty.

A couple of weeks later Martindale appeared on an Ibrox fans podcast explaining some of his background and how much he’d really love to get a win over the Ibrox Tribute Act.

Martinjail is a horse’s banger the type of manager that if he had to play sevco the last game of the season with the title at stake and sevco has to win by 9 or 10 clear goals,he would make sure this happens.

How can Livingston have faith in a manager who is a self confessed the Rangers fan boy to do his job justifiably ? How can that club not sense that they very likely are not getting a true commitment from wee Wink Martindale ? How can Livi not grasp the distinct possibility that Martindale’s tactics and team selections against his favourite pastime team are made with the end product in mind ? Or is the club fully cognisant of its manager’s choices and just go with the flow …..Or he could be as straight as an arrow but incompetent!

Maybe he wants to be the next manager of Penalty F C
