The Daily Record team have hit top gear early in the build up to Sunday’s Viaplay Cup Final at Hampden.
A week anticipating Ange Postecoglou’s arrival at Leeds United came to nothing but there seems to be a big pool of negative Celtic stories to try and retain some of their readership.
Yesterday the Press Gazette revealed that average print sales of the Glasgow based newspaper had dropped to 61,883 which puts an emphasis on digital eyeballs to keep the title viable.
With an army of digital savvy young pups trawling the internet under the guidance of the old guard there is no limit to the negative stories about Celtic that can be served up.
Perhaps the best one yesterday was a story blaming Celtic for the hold up in the work permit for Giorgos Giakoumakis at Atlanta United.
Spicing up the menu is the gleeful coverage of comments from Borna Barisic and Fashion Sakala.
Whether or not there is a transfer windfall from the sale of Kieran Tierney won’t have any impact on the summer plans of Ange Postecoglou- meanwhile at Ibrox Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Scot Arfield, Steve Davis, Malik Tillman, Ryan Jack, Filip Helander, James Sands and Allan McGregor are out of contract in May.
This morning Record readers get the good news that John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe and Malik Tillman are on course to make miracle recoveries from injury to be ready to start Sunday’s match. Like no one predicted.
But only one broken club crest is likely to feature this week for the Record’s army of readers.
So far this week we have had Ange leaving in the summer, Kyogo away in the summer, Celtic not getting a big sell on for Tierney and it’s only Wednesday.

The Daily Rectum disappearing up its own butt in the not to distant future.
As I said on Facebook yesterday 4 days to go and the negative anti celtic news will be ramped up and we expect it every time we play sevco in a final. We are going to destroy them on Sunday.
The negativity has yet to peak ! We are 4 days from the final and slowly but surely the tabloids and their scoops are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to disrupt Celtic’s preparations ! The major stumbling block is that the more hyperbole they collectively print ,the more Celtic will be determined to triumph … This week in particular ,the SMSM have overstepped the mark with its anti Celtic rhetoric and I believe this will never be forgotten or forgiven !
