After a lifetime as Motherwell fan, media assistant, website editor and CEO Alan Burrows has quit the Fir Park club to join Aberdeen.
A CEO switching club within the same league is fairly unusual, Leeann Dempster left Motherwell for Hibs in 2014, but Burrows decision is very different.
Over his time as CEO Motherwell have been one of the best run clubs in the country but the appointments of Graham Alexander and in-house with Steven Hammell has left the club in a desperate bid to avoid relegation.
Burrows was the most committed CEO in Scotland, at home matches he would parade around the dug-out area in club suit and tie.
We can this morning confirm we have appointed Alan Burrows as chief executive.
We look forward to welcoming Alan to Pittodrie.

His hasty exit from Motherwell hasn’t gone down well with fans, seeing him pop up at Aberdeen as his boyhood club fight relegation for the first time since the eighties will come as a major shock.
Working under Dave Cormack will require the thickest of skins as Derek McInnes, Stephen Glass and Jim Goodwin will confirm.
Burrows officially starts his new job on February 27.
