James Tavernier was last night voted into the Ibrox Hall of Fame as he approaches eight years service that has brought two trophies to the club.

The former Wigan utility man has been at the centre of The Banter Years as Celtic scooped up 12 trophies on the bounce while the inspirational Tav wore the captains armband as the hoops made it Nine-in-a-Row, again.

Ironically John Greig captained the old club while Celtic won their first Nine-in-a-Row and was voted as the Greatest Ever Ranger by supporters.

Tav ended his first season at Ibrox watching Hibs lift the Scottish Cup for the first time since 1902 then suffered the agonies of playing in the top flight.

Season 2016/17 saw Celtic win 5-1 home and away in the Glasgow Derby with Tav sent out to serve up excuses to the media after each defeat.

Earlier this year he signed a contract extension for an unknown period which should see him hanging around for a few more Celtic celebrations.

Man I’d love to have seen the tribute footage to Tavpen at the Rangers hall of fame induction ! Penalty ,after penalty ,after penalty, after penalty ,after penalty ,with a few odd outfield goals thrown in to tumultuous acclaim ! Each table in the room in unison giving it ‘best penalty taker in Scotland.’ Well as the old saying goes ‘practice makes perfect ‘and Tavpen gets plenty of practice ….
