I actually put his CV into Leeds- David Martindale steps up his Celtic and Ange obsession

David Martindale struggles to get Celtic and Ange Postecoglou out of his head.

The Livingston boss claims to know so much about the hoops that he stated that one of Ange Postecoglou’s players is paid more than he shells out for his entire squad of players.

Knowing how opponents line up and play is an expected part of the job but details of player wages is something very different.

With money for appearances, points bonus, payments for winning trophies and European progress wages are a complex issue far removed from quotes of £X thousand pounds per week.

Livingston have lost three times to Celtic this season with Martindale keen to see the back of Postecoglou as the hoops boss closes in on a second successive title.

The Daily Record reports the Livingston boss saying:

We kind of know how Rangers will play but I kind of know how Ange is going to play as well – I still can’t stop him! I actually put his CV into Leeds! I saw Ally McCoist saying he would drive him down but I called him and said I’ll half him for a business class air ticket!

Celtic are hardly a rival to Livingston making Martindale’s comments even more out of place.

McCoist’s wacky humour is hardly original, perhaps if Martindale paid as much attention to Billy Dodds as he does to Postecoglou his side would still be in the Scottish Cup rather than trying to recover from a 3-0 home defeat to a Championship side.
