Kris Boyd has produced a sneering attack on almost all things Celtic while tipping Ange Postecoglou to leave the hoops this summer or next.

Earlier this week Ally McCoist and Barry Ferguson were offering to get the Celtic boss driven to Elland Road as they showed their ‘humorous’ side while wanting to see the SPFL champions and league leaders weakened.

Boyd references Celtic fans being in cuckoo land and suggests more fool them to the possibility of Postecoglou being at Celtic for the long haul.

The former Kilmarnock striker has a famously short memory, at the start of this season he was promoting Alfredo Morelos as the best player in Scotland. In July 2021 he suggested that Postecoglou should pack his bags because he wasn’t getting the boardroom backing to compete with Steven Gerrard.

The man from down under has stayed the course, saw off Gerrard and his successor and has clearly got under the skin of Boyd as he shared his views in The Sun:

There will be bigger fish for Ange to fry elsewhere. Nobody in football, particularly in Scotland, is here for the long term. It is, and always will be, a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

The Aussie has the Hoops fanbase eating out of the palm of his hand but if they think he won’t eventually take up an offer from down south, they are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Listening to some of them, you’d think he grew up in Athens with posters of Jimmy Johnstone and Billy McNeill on his wall. My guess is he’ll head for pastures new either this summer or next.

You have to factor in that the clock is ticking on his earning capacity. Postecoglou is 58 in August. Football, by and large, is becoming a young person’s game.

Postecoglou never grew up in Athens, his family emigrated to Melbourne when he was four years old. The Celtic boss seems to have some values that are difficult for Boyd to come to terms with such as job satisfaction rather than constantly chasing the biggest pay check available.

Showing his lack of basic facts, while grudgingly congratulating Postecoglou’s achievements Boyd claims:

It’s always much harder to retain a league title. Celtic are firmly on course to do that and Ange deserves enormous credit. That’s why he’s a wanted man right now.

In eight of the last 10 seasons Celtic have retained the SPFL title, three times as part of a treble.

With a nine point lead and 13 matches left to play the former Yokohama F Marinos boss is on charge to retain the title he won last season despite being six points behind Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

Boyd may also recall his excited predictions about the loan signing of Aaron Ramsey just over a year ago.

A fantastic “coop” for the football club.

Boyd is a tit who is as good a pundit as he was a player, the fanny doesn’t realise that every Celtic fan realises he will leave eventually. And the reason he will leave is that we will continue to be successful at the expense of his beloved Sevco. I,m confident when he does decide to go he will do it in the correct manner with the blessing of most Celtic fans, unlike Rodgers and Gerrard at his club who will both at some point in their lives realise they made an arse of it.
