Douglas Ross will make his first Celtic Park appearance in front of fans for more than two years when he runs the line at Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie at home to St Mirren.

The leader of the Scottish Tories leads a very busy life, sitting in Westminster and Holyrood while also picking up match fees and expenses from the SFA.

Ross was a regular at Celtic Park in the first half of the 20/21 Lockdown season but a hamstring injury picked up in January sidelined for the best part of a year. This year he has ran the line at four Premiership matches plus six in the Championship.

Steven McLean will referee the televised cup tie which is one of the few matches that will involve VAR with Colin Steven on duty from afar.

St Mirren are the only team to have beaten Celtic in a domestic game this season but that defeat in September was corrected to some extent last month when Celtic beat the Paisley side 4-0 on home soil.
