Just like last season two goals from Kyogo Furuhashi delived the League Cup to Celtic.
Scotland’s leading goalscorer netted either side of half time to retain Celtic’s grip on the trophy for another year despite all the hype coming out of Ibrox led by Micky Beale and Fashion Sakala.
Kyogo scored with two predator finishes as the Ibrox defence was cut wide open with both goals built down the left flank taking advantage of James Tavernier’s preference to push forward.
A moment of slackness at the back provided Alfredo Morelos with a goal in the 64th minute but despite some possession there were no real moments of worry for Joe Hart in the Celtic defence.
Going into 2023 some critics pointed out that Kyogo hadn’t scored in a Glasgow derby but that was mainly down to injury and being played out on the wing in his first appearance in the fixture.
The Japanese striker has now scored three times at Ibrox and Hampden, more goals on April 8 will go a long way to retaining the SPFL title.
