Ibrox fans have been told to stop moaning and protesting against Ross Wilson.

With Celtic laying down a marker for another treble the performance of the self-styled transfer guru has been put in the spotlight.

Joining the club in October 2019 from Southampton the pint- sized action man was the driving force behind the appointment of Giovanni van Bronckhorst and last summer’s spending spree.

Boosted by the transfers of Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey the club splashed £15m on Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo, Ben Davies and Antonio Colak. Lucrative contracts brought John Souttar and Tom Lawrence on board.

At the same time half a dozen stars are about to complete their contracts and move on but Stuart Gibson told the This Is Ibrox podcast that they should start appreciating the magic of Wilson in the transfer market:

Ross Wilson is doing a brilliant job. He doesn’t have ample resources to work with but he knocked it out the park with Bassey and Joe Aribo. They are massive home runs for the club.

There’s some signings made last summer we were unlucky with injuries and some of the players have yet to make their mark and get to know the fans but Ross Wilson has done an excellent job and continues to do so. I know in the dying days of Gio’s managerial reign with Rangers he was getting a lot of flak and it was extremely unfair.

Gibson is one of the Hong Kong investors that has had loads repaid over the past 12 months, he currently holds 9.45% of the shares in the company.

A property investor who bought some shares in a footy club recently,
is now in a position to advise on Ibrox transfer business, football operations etc.
    Oh, and he lives abroad?

Just more pathetic PR from Ibrox.

Things must be getting desperate if they are dragging shareholder Gibson into the Ibrox media spin.

As Slater says to Delboy in Only Fool’s and Horses, music to my ears Delboy, when I read the interview from Gibson the 3rd largest shareholder at the BIGOT dome.
All is good at sevco they are ticking along nicely with Jockey Wison in charge of transfer duties and Robertson the jam man doing a SUPERB job at whatever his role is and Beechgrove the commercial moneymarket expert on sponsorship duties.
It’s good to know they the new klub are standing still with the 3 Stoogies running it into the ground but at the same time the guy who has thrown over £5 million into the new klub is happy to watch them piss his money and investment against the wall.
When you get that kind of backing the person investing that cash deserves to get bumped.

To be fair, for a new club to reach 2nd place is good going. However, had FFP been enforced previously they might not have reached that. If Mr. Gibson can’t see the landslide falling it’ll be somewhat a surprise of self-delusion.

  • Magua says:

I for one, agree that Ross Wilson is doing a brilliant job.

    Hail Hail.

  • Duncan says:

With the amount of players they have turned over in the past decade it was only ever going to be a matter of time before they struck gold with 1 or 2.

Had they been operating as a money making enterprise ( as Celtic do and have been for the past Decade) then the sale of Bassey and Aribo combined with reaching the Europa League Final should have seen them in a position to strengthen further under the previous Manager.

They post a loss of just under £1m last year.

Therein lays the problem at Ayebrokes.

Living beyond their means in order to get themselves in contention has ultimately cost them in the end.

Even the thickest of thick Investors must be looking at this thinking why risk my millions for ZERO RETURNS?

They evidently failed to take into account ( no sniggering in the Accounts Department ) that Celtic would hit straight back last Season and took it for granted they would would win the League and cement their position on top.

    More fool them.

History should be showing them whose approach is more sustainable long term.

Both Financially off the Park and performance wise on it.

They have learned absolutely nothing from 2012.
