Barry Ferguson has thrown hope to Ibrox fans by floating the idea of investors putting hundreds of millions of pounds into the club.
The former Alloa boss has suffered a number of financial problems, in July 2017 he was declared bankrupt over unpaid tax of £1.4m which was unrelated to the disguised remuneration scam used to top up his token Ibrox wages.
Being from Hamilton Ferguson knows Douglas Park who ultimately calls all of the major decisions at Ibrox such as hiring Micky Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Since 5pm on February 26 Beale has been playing up the budget disadvantage that his club has despite the summer spending that brought Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo, Ben Davies, Antonio Colak, John Souttar and Tom Lawrence to the payroll.
Another spending spree is required in the summer- more so with six first team players out of contract but there is no certainty that Park will come up with the funds.
Listening to Ferguson offering hope on Go Radio, the Daily Record reports the former Rangers boss saying:
I get asked about the board situation and I know Douglas Park very well. I am not just saying this because I know him.
But he has put his money where his mouth is. I am sure if an investor came in from the middle east let’s say for talking sake, and is willing to invest in Rangers hundreds of millions, I am sure Douglas Park would step aside and allow that to happen if it was all good to go. There’s no doubt in my mind. But that’s just an example.
As Dave Murray discovered more than a decade ago there is no interest in business circles to taking on the show at Ibrox- even while sharing trophies with Celtic.
Two trophies in 11 years has angered their entitled supporters even more making a takeover in Craig Whyte terms more likely than the hundreds of millions that Ferguson has in mind.

You sometimes wonder just what’s in those Elton Johns these people like Ferguson and other klan members are smoking.
What has Park personally put into ibrox, other directors have given loans only to be repaid in shares at 25p each whilst the shares are only worth 1p each, very sound business deal ?. Barry as usual just talks through his rear end, buy players like Kent for £7 million and let them leave for nothing just echoes how bad a business is being run at ibrox again.
Need to be a Zombie like Murray or Whyte. Not many of them in Arabia, alas!
