The crumbling state of Ibrox has been laid bare by a fan on Follow Follow.

For reasons that no outsider can understand the Main Stand, approaching it’s Centenary is revered by obedient bears, treated like the Sistine Chapel and discussed in hushed, reverential tones.

Washing the windows seems to be a task that the club struggles to maintain while heating a 90 year old building isn’t cheap in the current climate. Adding to the costs is the Club Deck which Dave Murray bolted on in the early nineties with steel from his own firm.

Away from the Main Stand even the Gullible & Deluded can’t be fooled about the state of the three stands thrown up on the cheap around 1980.

The state of the roofs has long been discussed, in December 2015 part of the Govan Stand roof fell off during a match against Dumbarton but thankfully the stadium has managed to pass the Health & Safety checks from Glasgow City Council.

The big debate at the moment is over the apparent introduction of disabled seating at the three stands, a far cry from the Moonbeam Years of hover pitches, super casinos, six star hotels and heli-pads.

Decades of neglect from the turn of the century have taken their toll, every area of the three ‘newer’ stands is into stoppage time but with Micky Beale needing every penny this summer it looks like the ground maintenance will be put back at least another year.

Still, they can drool over the brickwork over the Main Stand while indoors the energy bills go through the roof.

The simplest and easiest solution would be to just bulldoze the shithole, preferably with all the occupants of the seats in there place at the time also

There is a B Listed Victorian Era Toilet on the Pier at Rothesay.
I believe it is in better condition than the main stand at Ayebrokes despite being a working toilet where men go to relieve themselves.

Make of that what you will.

I should add that the local Council had to put a sign up advising the local Rangers Supporters Club not to drink out of the urinals as this wasn’t a freshwater spring or spa as some seemed to think.

The smell of the managers office!!!!. What’s that about?

  • JimBhoy says:

Beale needs more than money, he need experience and talent. He has neither.

  • Davie says:

I seriously hope that the lack of maintenance does not bring another disaster, the roof can cave in as long as no one is below it.
WHO will be held accountable if anyone is hurt due to the deflection of funds on players and not the safety of the fans.
Fergus saved Celtic, he put a stadium in place before players, yes the money could have been spent on expensive players and challenge Rangers for the league, however Fergus had the vision to spend wisely, The Rangers [impersonators] have not learned from the errors of Rangers, spend everything on players in desperation to win the league but are doing much the same as the deceased club, Fans safety must come first.
