Eleven days before the Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic Micky Beale has admitted that his current squad aren’t good enough to challenge Ange Postecoglou’s side.
After ditching QPR in November Beale arrived at Ibrox saying that the squad wasn’t broken, highlighting how he was working with the Europa League finalists from six months earlier.
Three months before the former Liverpool u-5s coaching co-ordinator moved to Ibrox the squad he inherited had beaten PSV Eindhoven over two legs to qualify for the Champions League, in January Nico Raskin and Todd Cantwell were added to the squad.

This group has given me what they can and we’re probably four or five players away from being where I want us to be. That’s nothing against the players that are playing just now, it will just make us stronger.
So far Beale has been unable to convince any of seven out of contract first team players to sign up to a new contract.
Joe, last paragraph: is it “unable” or unwilling? Who TF would want any of them?
Without the MIB we’d have sewn up the most important thing, The Title to add to our honestly earned League Cup. Hopefully the SC makes for another treble.
