The drive/dive to gather online clicks is becoming increasingly desperate at the Daily Record.

With print sales crashing at a rate of 20% a year gaining online readers appears to be the only route to survival for the Glasgow based title- whatever it takes.

Turning desperate share issues into ‘creating cash boost opportunities’ is a favoured tactic as is the constant linking of star players on their way to Ibrox as part of the Micky Beale Revolution.

Fixtures are fairly cut and dried, this season, like every other the two Glasgow clubs will play 19 home matches and 19 away. Sure there may be three away matches or three home matches against one opponent but Season Ticket holders will get 19 home matches.

Not however according to the Record, tonight they offered this masterpiece:

Rangers face the prospect of missing out on a home game this term – while Celtic are set to gain an additional clash at Parkehad (spell checker been made redundant?) when the post-split Premiership fixtures are revealed.

St MirrenĀ and Hibs sealed a spot in the top six with Aberdeen and Hearts after Livingston slipped up against relegation-threatened Dundee United, with the SPFL now left with a major headache as they attempt to work out the crucial run-in.

Ange Postecoglou’s men will definitely head to Ibrox for the final derby showdown of the campaign, and the Hoops have already travelled to Paisley twice so far this season meaning they will welcome Stephen Robinson’s side to Celtic Park when the fixtures are announced.

Celtic will have three home matches against a top six side, Beale’s side will have a third away match. Most supporters know that.

Postecoglou’s side have an imbalance of fixtures against all of the bottom six sides, three of them have been to Celtic Park twice, Celtic have been away to the other three teams twice.

The split has been part of Scottish football for more than 20 years, it seems that fans understand it more than the Record’s sports team.

  • Scud Missile says:

Look at how Motherwell set themselves up today for that game, them and others in our nickel&dime league, and then pundits wonder how these teams never progress through to knockout stages of European competition.
That’s why you have part-time teams of plumbers and joiners and people who stack shelves for a living and playing football as a hobby SCUDDING these ARSEHOLES.

Well said scud, murderwell were terrible ,that was definitely anti – football,as you say teams from some European countries with part time players easily beat the likes of motherwell,in saying that we weren’t at the races yesterday either, pretty bad all round, even with murderwells spoiling tactics we should still have the beating of them.
