Dembele all day long- Kris Boyd dismisses the case for Kyogo

Image for Dembele all day long- Kris Boyd dismisses the case for Kyogo

Kris Boyd has dismissed Kyogo Furuhashi in a comparison with Moussa Dembele.

A fortnight ago Boyd was watching Kyogo notch a double in the Glasgow Derby to push Celtic 12 points clear in the SPFL title race, earlier this year another double against Micky Beale’s side delivered the Viaplay Cup to Celtic.

That sort of form hasn’t impressed Boyd very much, it seems that Dembele made a bigger impact despite making less Celtic appearances and scoring less goals.

Both strikers provided Celtic fans with plenty to celebrate but it seems that Boyd struggles to praise the current hoops side who are a maximum of seven points away from retaining the title.

Writing in The Sun Boyd explains:

There is no doubt for me that Moussa Dembele is a more talented footballer than Kyogo Furuhashi.

Yes, they have two different styles of play and I’m not sure Dembele would be the right fit for the current Celtic side.

Kyogo certainly works harder and his movement is superb, but as a fellow forward, if you’re asking me who I’d rather have in my team, it’d be Dembele all day long.

Which striker would you go with?

Kyogo- He has it all, a goal addict

Moussa- There was something special there

Can't decide- glad we've had both of them

The image of Dembele scoring a hat-trick in his first Glasgow Derby is a compelling one, quickly followed up by a semi-final winner against Mark Warburton’s side and a goal at Ibrox that drew Celtic level on their way to victory.

Some stats can be misleading but in two seasons at Celtic Dembele only scored 26 SPFL goals, coming from 38 starts and 17 appearances off the bench.

This season Kyogo has scored 23 SPFL goals from 27 starts and three substitute appearances, last season he managed 12 SPFL goals from 16 appearances and coming off the bench four times.

In total he has scored 35 SPFL goals from 43 starts with six matches left to play this season.

Boyd is perfectly entitled to his opinion, just as others are entitled to their opinion on the former Portland Strikers goal ace.

As fellow forwards, I’d imagine the last person either Dembele or Kyogo would want in their team is a fat, slow, talentless, Monster Munch chomping bellend like Boyd.

Why, Oh Why, do they open their mouths!?

In my life time I rate strikers in this order Joe McBride
    Larson
    Kyogo
    Dembele
