Times might be tough for Ibrox fans as they stare at their Season Ticket Renewal Form, deciding whether to pay another wedge into the lifestyles of serial failures.

The evidence all around them is grim but a look at the Daily Record/Football Scotland can always be relied on to provide some upbeat news, that success is just around the corner for the World’s Most Successful Club, that Mister Beale can deliver The 56.

Every scrap from emergency share issues to injury updates are presented in the most glowing light, Google is searched high and dry for snippets to be presented to their Army of Readers.

Another classic turned up yesterday on Football Scotland.

As Real Madrid (not the most successful club in the world) prepare for yet another Champions League semi- final, Football Scotland has discovered a website that rates them behind an 11 year old Tribute Act.

Liverpool may have won 7-1 at Ibrox in autumn without getting out of third gear but like Real they are in the shadow of Beale’s superstars.

Football Scotland reports:

It might have been a difficult season for Rangers in the Champions League but their performances over the last few campaigns are something to be proud of.

The obvious high point was reaching the Europa League Final last season and they were unfortunate not to be bringing a European trophy back to Scotland. It’s a huge change from their miserable return to the European stage when Progres Niederkorn stunned Pedro Caixinha’s flops in Luxembourg.

But since then they have gone from strength to strength in the Europa League under Steven Gerrard and then Giovanni van Bronckhorst before this year’s disaster in Europe’s Premier competition.

Their success over recent years shows them up well and new stats from respected site SwissFootballData have shown Rangers to rank very high in terms of European clubs. The list ranks the most successful teams in European football over the past five seasons and Rangers are sixth in that table.

A score of 18.125 puts them ahead of the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United and more in an incredible showing.

In six Champions League matches in their history the Ibrox side are pointless, over the last five years Liverpool have played Real Madrid twice in Champions League Finals, neither side has played in the Europa League.

Celtic are 31st in the Swiss Football Data listing, no explanation is given to what it is based on but that has never been an issue for the team at the Record and their digital cousins on Football Scotland.
