SFA arrange double dose of punishment to Hampden pitch ahead of Celtic’s semi-final tie

After the heavy criticism that the Hampden pitch has received this year the SFA have arranged a double-header on the pitch ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

When Ange Postecoglou’s side take to the pitch on April 30 it will be the fourth match played on the pitch in the space of nine days with the other games on April 22, 23 and 29.

Today the SFA announced:

Tickets are now on-sale for the historic Women’s Scottish Cup Semi-finals which are set to take place later this month.

Rangers play Motherwell in the first Semi-final on Saturday, 22 April with the match kicking off at 12:30pm.

Glasgow City take on Celtic the following day with the same kick off time.

It is the first time the revamped competition has featured matches played at the National Stadium. The Final will also be played there on Sunday, 28 May.

It seems very unusual that the venues for the women’s semi-finals are only being announced a couple of days before they are played. Last season both semi-finals were played on the same day at the Falkirk Stadium.

Back in January all four clubs involved in the Viaplay Cup semi-finals complained about the condition of the pitch with intensive work carried out before the final on February 26.

Inverness Caley Thistle and Falkirk get to play their semi-final the day before the Glasgow Derby, with all respect the aggregate attendances at the three other matches at Hampden is unlikely to be over 30,000 which adds more justification to playing those matches elsewhere.

SFA incompetence? You had better believe it, because if you don’t, it is going to come back and bite you somewhere!
The more they get away with, the bolder they become. They think people believe in them and the job they are doing. So they pride-up, smile and look for the smell of the fresh coffee!
The national team only scored in the Spain Home international after the Spanish right-back gave the ball away after he mysteriously lost his footing on the Hampden turf!
And that was after the Scottish National Coach had complained about it prior to the game!
Those are the working conditions under which professional football is being played in Scotland!

    Learn it!

    Foghlaim e!

  • Bhoy4life says:

And you dont think thats deliberate to stop an half decent team passing the ball?
They dont want a showpiece game for Scottish football, they want a Sevco win at any cost, even to their reputation.

It is you that says it! I say it is incompetence because it is easier to prove than cheating. And so, get something done about it.
If the SFA or whoever is not fit for purpose, it’ll get, or should get binned.
That’s a hell-of -a-lot easier to prove that removing them because they are biased against you because you have to prove that. And just how are you going to do that?
They’ve been at the same game for over a hundred years.
      They’re time-proven that they’re here to stay!

Tiz not incontinent, they own that venue, they like any other sellers will only use their own stuff, bit like ‘it’s ma baw ‘ listen spend your hard or given cash on supporting them , tiz your own choice but try and be an understanding team supporter who might not get the chance to feed the people who OWN the baw the ability to see it happen without idiotic points from the people who payed the owner of the BAW, now stop complaining or stop funding..HH.

Will be interesting to see if the SFA can even be bothered to cut the grass after the Scottish game against Spain?
Obviously a tactic used to slow the Spanish game down and making the game a more physical battle which would never suit the Spanish.
Watched the game with the semi in mind, so if a similar pitch was in play for the semi, who would it suit moreso?
Would be a safe bet that there wouldn’t be any complaints from any of the 6 team’s involved beforehand, even more so when none can produce a crowd worthy of playing within a national stadium especially upon a surface showing no signs of being able to withstand such traffic either

  • Brian says:

Peter lawwell believes in them, he said he is happy with what they are doing. Over to you Peter.

  • TicToc says:

I’ve watched fitba all my life and played it a bit too, still do wae my wee 10 yo grandson.
Point is this: in my own experience, better players ‘handle’ bad surfaces better than average or less players. Of course it’ll slow us down as intended but we’re too good for ‘them’ on any surface. It’s this, in conjunction with the MIB, that will try to decide the SF in their favourites favour. Ange is ontae them all. Worry not.

  • John mcghee says:

P.lawwell is one of them after he signed the 5way agreement ive never trusted lawwell and i never will after he tossed 10inarow away to save the blue pounds he’s a dirty ratbag P.lawwell

Advantage Sevco Women and Sevco Guys…

Celtic on second yet again – if it’s not bloody TV then it’s a pitch issue –

Ma country of birth – But these days – Come on anyone that’s playing v Scotland at football…

Thank you SFA for giving me this mindset !

I understand players getting a chance to play at hampden but most players would prefer a good playing surface if hampden hasn’t improved the sfa should be asked for an audit to see where the money goes the safety of players and spectators are number one if the if the turf is not holding that is a danger the turf looks have been neglected why and how has to be answered and I think it has by the state of it three games that should be played somewhere else for atmosphere bloody joke
