It was a day of madness at Ibrox today as three home players were sent off as Celtic B won 3-1 in a Lowland League match.

Goalkeeper Lewis Budinauckas was sent off for handling the ball outside of his penalty box with Bailey Rice picking up his second yellow card after Celtic had gone 3-1 up.

Into stoppage time there was one more red card to come with Adam Devine committing a horrendous over the ball challenge on an opponent. Referee Greg Soutar had no option but to send the home defender off.

Celtic skipper Matthew Anderson anticipated the studs up challenge and managed to avoid contact.

Devine has started four first team matches this season and made three substitute appearances but with Micky Beale watching from the stand he is unlikely to be called up again this season.

Although the two Glasgow sides are in second and third place in the Lowland League neither can go forward into the play-off with Tranent looking certain to face the Highland League champions with the winner of that tie playing the team that finishes bottom of League Two.

Today’s win was the third time that Celtic have beaten their city rivals since Christmas, they sides could meet again in the Glasgow Cup with the semi-finals of the five team competition still to be decided.
