The Kevin Clancy files- Saturday’s compilation of nightmare decisions against Celtic

Having been given every possible helping hand to provide a challenge to Celtic this season it seems that Ibrox has gone into meltdown after a couple of decisions on Saturday were judged on merit.

Alfredo Morelos routinely gets away with pulling, pushing and shoving opponents with referees happy to look the other way. That tactic succeeded in the Viaplay Cup Final when Aaron Mooy was man-handled to give the striker a yard in which he put the ball into the net.

It is doubtful if there is another club anywhere in the world that could put together a run of 49 league matches without conceding a penalty. In contrast the league leaders, Celtic, have had seven penalties awarded against them in the 32 matches played this season.

That entitlement grows arms and legs, the special allowances given in the SPFL has become the norm with the reaction to Saturday demonstrating the dangers of creating that culture.

As we have witnessed all season opponents constantly fall to the ground whenever there is any contact or challenge from Celtic players.

Routinely Celtic have 65% or more possession in matches but the foul count tends to be evenly split or go against Celtic. Falling down buys opponents some time to waste and draw breathe from the constant attacks from Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Micky Beale’s side used that tactic on Saturday, Kevin Clancy played along allowing a succession of free kicks to be launched into the Celtic penalty box, something that Beale’s side couldn’t manage from open play.

Should non-Scottish referees be appointed for future Glasgow Derbies?

The only solution is to bring foreign refs in – both VAR and in game.

Foreign refs is the way to go.

VAR was intended for ?oal line , 18 yard line, offside, mistaken identity.
The clear and obvious mistake route is being abused by VAR officials, tv and MEDIA, as it has a subjective element.
Scottish refs are compromised by by the lodge in different ways. (Corruption- Rewarded with big games-dropped for a few weeks to lower leagues etc.

Clancy is a poor ref, but there is not a competent one among them. Beaton is unfit, and doesn’t keep up with play. ( not that anyone in the SFA is bothered)

If Clancy’s 2nd half performance was due to him being got at , at half time, then I hope he issues a statement accordingly…….laff out loud moment…..

After every week we hear problems with refs … ask Brighton how they love VAR and the collusion with Barcelona that is going through the Spanish courts .. here is a radical idea.
Every week the ref team including VAR comes from a foreign league.
Week 1 Germany by Portuguese refs , France by Scottish refs , England by Dutch refs , Scotland by Spanish refs , Spain by Italian refs etc etc
then the following week its gets altered .. The refs cant complain because they are getting matches and fans cant complain about bias if every week the ref comes from a different league. They do it for UEFA competitions .. this takes it one stage further.
