With the quarter-finals of their three competitions about to get underway UEFA have been finalising their pay-outs to the clubs that participated in the group stages of their tournaments.

Celtic were back in the big time for the first time in five years but only picked up two points from draws home and away with Shakhtar Donetsk.

All clubs playing in the group stage were paid €15,640,000 with a range of factors boosting that to the €30,171,000 cheque that they got directly from UEFA.

As Scottish champions Celtic were paid a bigger share from the TV market pool but the bulk of the difference between the two SPFL clubs came from the 10-year co-efficient.

While Lee McCulloch and pals were trying to win the Irn Bru Petroltank trophy Celtic were playing in the group stages of the Champions League or the Europa League.

On top of the additional €9m from UEFA Celtic had 60,000 sell out crowds at three matches plus a variety of sponsor bonuses from being in the top tournament alongside increased hospitality fees.
