Going into what could be a very painful month wee David Tanner is struggling badly on Twitter.

Being a media celebrity with under 14,000 Twitter followers isn’t a good look when you’ve been trying to generate interest for seven years.

In desperation last week he claimed that media pressure was part of the reason why Celtic hadn’t conceded a penalty before VAR was introduced in October, since then seven penalties have been awarded against the hoops making up 33% of the goals they have lost in the SPFL.

There is one elephant in the room on this subject, one that Tanner and his small circle of media buddies won’t go anywhere near.

The second best team in Scotland hasn’t conceded a single SPFL penalty this season despite the increase in awards, especially since VAR came into play. At the turn of the year new interpretations of Goldson’s Law were being pushed on a weekly basis by a compliant media.

Tanner couldn’t resist commenting on Celtic being awarded a penalty for handball at Ross County yesterday. A fully extended arm was to blame, it was so obvious that Ewen Cameron tried to save Tanner from embarrassing himself.

However when you openly discuss being knocked back by Chat and HELLO! Magazines for your wedding pictures in 2004 clearly self awareness isn’t a strength.
