Andy Gray has issued a dismissive assessment of Ange Postecoglou in light of speculation linking the Celtic boss with the Spurs managers job.

Fronting beIN coverage of football for the last decade from Qatar it is doubtful how closely the former Everton and Aston Villa has followed Postecoglou’s career.

The extent of Spurs’ interest is unknown but Celtic fans would be devastated if they were to lose the manager that has transformed every aspect of the club in two years.

Spurs were strongly linked with Arne Slot of Feyenoord but it seems to some that delivering success in Scotland doesn’t compare with the Netherlands.

Picking up on a discussion over the next Spurs boss the Daily Record reports:

Speaking to beIN Sports, Keys said: “I do not know why Brendan Rodgers is not being considered for that job.” Gray fired back: “What has Postecoglou got and done that Brendan Rodgers hasn’t bettered? Bettered.”

Dismissive Keys chimed in: “Nothing. Nothing like what Brendan Rodgers has done.”

Gray continued to sound off as he ripped apart the former Australia and Yokohama F Marinos’ bosses achievements while gushing over former Celtic gaffer Rodgers. He added: “Rodgers has got so much more experience about this league and managing big clubs and managing big players, as he did at Liverpool.

“I don’t get that one. There must be something stopping these big clubs even talking to Brendan Rodgers.”

The former Leicester boss has been mentioned extensively for the Spurs job, highlighting the fact that Keys and Gray are no longer as close to the action as they once were. Although the telly duo don’t influence the Spurs board their views are reflective of the attitude of many in England to success outside the major European leagues.

Postecoglou has diplomatically avoided any comment on Spurs, stating repeatedly that his sole focus is on delivering trophies to Celtic with a Scottish Cup Final coming up on Saturday.

It is more than two months since Spurs sacked Antonio Conte, after finishing eighth in the EPL their next manager won’t have any European football in next season’s fixture list.
