Stephen Welsh took part in training today to provide Ange Postecoglou with an additional option in central defence.
The home-grown defender had dropped down the pecking order following the arrival of Yuki Kobayashi but with Cameron Carter-Vickers injured the only other central defensive option is Bosun Lawal whose only first team experience is 10 minutes in a Scottish Cup tie at home to Morton.
Welsh was reported to have picked up a knock in training before the SPFL title clincher at Hearts and also missed the matchday squad at Ibrox last Saturday.
The former Scotland u-21 skipper appeared in the training gallery from training today at sunny Lennoxtown which should see him back into the squad to play St Mirren tomorrow.
With Carter-Vickers out until the start of next season Ange Postecoglou could do with other options in defence with three games coming up in eight days before preparations get underway for the Scottish Cup Final on June 3.
